A wacky weather Sunday in the Seaway Valley has many motorists negotiating their way past large puddles of water on what temperature-wise could pass for a cool summer day.

As of mid-afternoon, the temperature is a balmy 17 C, and combined with the sunshine, the snow banks are melting quickly and creating some driving difficulties.
The City of Cornwall is urging motorists to drive carefully, and in social media channels says work crews currently are out clearing catch basins.
And thats only a part of the wild weather report a cold front could produce thunderstorms later this afternoon.
Early in the day, Environment Canada issued a Special Weather Statement for Cornwall and Area, warning of a high-wind hazard, with gusts of up to 100 km/h possible.
The alert also says that widespread power outages are possible later this afternoon and evening.
Its all part of a cold front moving in in the afternoon, ushering out mid-day sunny skies and warm temperatures that reached 13 C at 12 noon, and much warmer a couple of hours later.
It started out as a very pleasant late-winter weekend and had lots of outdoor recreation facilities staying busy, but it turned into something more like late April just hours later. And, the wet, melting conditions have facilities and organizations announcing shutdowns, including Big Ben Ski Centre in Cornwall, which will be closed for several days but with the hope of resuming the season when the weather turns cooler again.
When that will happen is up in the air at this point above freezing temperatures are expected for most days in the coming week.
