After many years of water use, theEnvironmental Learning CenterThe kayaks that have been damaged are in dire need of replacements.
The Vero Beach-based charity is offering “12 Days of Christmas” to fulfill its wish.nonprofitseeksfundingfor six new kayaks: Three tandems Three singlesAccording to Sue Harr (the center’s relationship-and-experience specialist).
“Our current fleet is showing signs wear from constant use. Harr stated that it is time to retire several of our kayaks and replace them with new or gently used kayaks of the same specifications.
The center offers guided tours and kayak rentals to the general public.
“Our kayak rentals not only generate income for the ELCs educational programs but also allow our guests to experience the natural beauty, tranquility, and peace that comes with time spent on the Indian River Lagoon.”
The kayaks are an important part of the ELC’s educational mission to “educate, inspire and empower everyone to be active stewards for the environment and their well-being.”
Harr stated that “our fleet of kayaks is a perfect way to venture out, explore the Indian River Lagoon,” one of North America’s most biodiverse estuaries, the Indian River Lagoon. They are ideal for family and friend kayak trips as well as school groups and corporate retreats.
The ELC was established in 1988 by a group from the United States who were concerned about the environment. Pelican Island Audubon SocietyAccording to the center, this was a man who valued the natural beauty found in the Indian River Lagoon.
According to the ELC the mission of the founders was to preserve the lagoon’s unspoiled 64-acreisland and to create an area to lead educational programs, water-based adventures, and to teach visitors about biodiversity.
