Sharon Hays
Chief Technology and Strategy Officer, LMI
Sharon Hays is acutely aware of and appreciates the challenges facing the government in relation to climate change policy and technical solutions.
Having served as deputy to the president’s science adviser in a previous administration, Hays led the U.S. delegation to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the United Nations body that received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007. Hays left the federal government to be appointed by the commerce secretary for the National Climate Assessment and Development Advisory Committee.
LMI has allowed her to bring her experience to the private industry, where she emphasizes machine-learning and artificial intelligence to solve climate challenges. LMI has sponsored public forums where industry, government and academic leaders can discuss the effects climate change has on national security policy.
“Climate change is no longer a vague idea or concept to be debated,” Hays said. “Every day, we see the effects of climate change: extreme temperature shifts, wildfires, severe droughts, etc. Addressing and resolving these issues requires national urgency.”
Why Watch?
LMI supports several federal agencies in response to executive orders from the White House addressing the climate crisis. Climate change has a large impact on agency strategies, but also has specific effects on agency-managed infrastructure and critical supply chains.
“Climate change continues to impact our nation in every possible way,” said Doug Wagoner, LMI president and CEO. “Whether it is our national security, infrastructure or environment, LMI creates innovative solutions to solve our clients’ most complex challenges in this space.”
