Imagine. Imagine.
Presented in partnership by Parks and Recreation, Department of Environmental Services and EcoAction Arlington.
Climate change is a real threat and it can be overwhelming and stressful. It can be difficult to put effort and time into imagining a future where a problem has been solved. However, it can help you take action in the present. So, inspired by author Bina Venkataraman’s idea of the Optimist’s Telescope, let’s take a look through the telescope 50 years into Arlington’s future and imagine that we see an Arlington that is successfully combating climate change. What does Arlington look like now? What can we do to make Arlington a world leader in climate action? Join us on this journey to make Arlington a leader in climate action.
Part 1: Imagine. What would a climate-solved Arlington look in 50 years? In 100 years? First, grab a cup of hot coffee (bring your reusable cup!), make some s’mores by the campfire, and get inspired by listening to excerpts from literature that imagine the possibilities of a climate-solved future. Then, follow the path to the future, learn about local community organizations’ long-term climate action plans, then contribute your solutions to climate problems facing Arlington. All ages are invited.
Location: Lubber Run Park (firering ring) and Lubber Run Community Center, Oak Room).
