Environment Canada issues winter storm warning for Regina

Environment Canada has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Regina, warning about potentially hazardous conditions Monday.

A low pressure system is expected to bring winter weather to most of Southern Sask. Monday night through Tuesday.

The alert warned of reduced visibility caused by blizzard conditions. On Monday night, the Southern Sask is likely to experience northwesterly winds gusts of 70km/h or 90km/h.

The cold front, which is set to hit the province, will have the power to drop temperatures quickly, making roads and walkways slippery and slippery.

Environment Canada warns that freezing rain could be possible ahead of the warm front that runs from North Battleford Southeast into Estevan Monday afternoon through Monday evening.

Extremely cold conditions are possible Tuesday night as an Arctic Ridge of High Pressure moves into the province.

Environment Canada advises Regina residents not to travel, and to keep an eye out for updates and alerts on conditions leading up to Monday.
