Southland’s regional office has been closed until further notice due to a positive Covid-19 Case Contact. Staff had met with them in the past 2 days.
Environment Southland stated that the Invercargill-based office wasn’t a place of interest and that the closure was a precautionary step.
Staff were not required at this stage to self-isolate.
The council stated that its staff were well-equipped to work from home until they receive further information and could decide about reopening.
Rob Phillips, chief executive, stated that safety and well-being were the top priorities for the company.
He stated that “We now have systems in place that allow our employees to set up and operate from home very quickly so that our services can continue”
“We appreciate the fact that the visitor to my office was very open with us about his contact. This has allowed me to take precautionary measures.”
