Today, snow is expected to fall on the Lower Mainland.
Environment Canada has issued a snowfall alert for the eastern Fraser Valley as well as a special weather advisory for Metro Vancouver. This is due to a Pacific frontal storm moving over B.C. Today, the south coast.
As freezing levels are at sea-level, heavy snow is expected in the eastern Fraser Valley. Any rain will cause snowfall.
Today is expected to bring two centimetres of snow, but tonight will bring another five to ten centimetres. Hope and Chilliwack are expected to receive the most snow.
The snowfall accumulations in the West of Metro Vancouver should be between two and five centimetres. In the Fraser Valley, the eastern sections, higher terrain and western sections should expect four to eight cm.
“Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow,” Environment Canada says.
It’s expected to change to rain on Thursday morning as warmer temperatures come.
