Rihanna’s philanthropy work has been an honorable service, and we can’t deny the ‘queen energy’ that the artist has. She pledged $15 million to climate justice groups, as she believes climate change is a matter of social justice.

Rihanna donated $15,000,000 to climate change through Clara Lionel Foundation (a non-profit organization she founded in 2012). The donation was made to 18 climate justice organisations in the United States and seven Caribbean countries.

The Climate Justice Alliance and the Indigenous Environmental Network are included in the 18 climate justice groups. Rihanna, who is from the eastern Caribbean island of Barbados, noted that the reason for her foundation is the ‘disparity,’ which is why it prioritizes climate resilience and climate justice work.  “Climate disasters, which are growing in frequency and intensity, do not impact all communities equally, with communities of color and island nations facing the brunt of climate change,” the singer said.

The grants made are in partnership with Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey’s #StartSmall fund that centers on groups with female, LGBT, and Black and Indigenous leaders, since their communities are at greater risk and are most affected by the climate crisis.

Rihanna and Dorsey, through their Clara Lionel Foundation have also donated over $15 million to mental health services and $2.1million to victims of domestic abuse in Los Angeles during peak times of the pandemic.

Forbes estimated Rihanna’s net worth at US$1.7 billion last year. Her cosmetics business Fenty Beauty accounts for most of her wealth, while some of her wealth comes mainly from her lingerie company Savage X Fenty. She also has a career in acting and music.

Riri is the wealthiest female singer and second-richest female entertainer. We are grateful for her generosity.
