Speaker for the House Nancy PelosiShe has spent almost $500,000 on private jet travel since 2020, despite her advocacy that the US has a moral responsibility to address climate change. According to Federal Election Commission filings Clay Lacy Aviation, a California-based private aviation provider Clay Lacy Aviation received $423,707 from her campaign and another $65,457 from Virginia’s Advanced Aviation Team.
The SpeakerClimate change was previously described as an “existential” threat. In her 2019 opening address to Congress she stated, “We must face the existential danger of our time: The climate crisis.” “The entire Congress must work together to end the inactions and denials of science that threaten the future and the planet. PelosiTo the chagrin of others, she even suggested that the climate change issue was more important than China’s human rights violations. She stated, “climate change is an overriding concern, and China is the leading emitter in this world.”

PelosiPelosi, who led a 21 member congressional delegation to the United Nations Climate Change Conference, Glasgow, Scotland in November 2021, said that her commitment in addressing climate change is rooted in her Catholic faith. Pelosi stated that “it’s a religious thing” just three months after she had spent $67,604.93 on private airline travel. “I believe that this is God’s creation and we have a moral responsibility to be good stewards.”
Surprisingly many netizens supported Pelosi over the issue of her spending $500,000 on private aircrafts. One user commented, “As long it’s her money she’s spending so what?” Pandemic pandemic flight service is not reliable. Another stated, “There is a real world threat to her safety and life.” Last year, for example, a large MAGA crowd violently stormed Capital looking for her. It would be too dangerous for her fly on commercial flights.
A third said, “Did it ever occur? In this age of death threats by right wing terrorists, she needs to travel in an manner that insures personal safety.” She is an integral part of our government.” A fourth added, “She is also Speaker in the House and 2nd in Line to the Presidency.” However, not all netizens supported her. One wrote, “I hope it is her personal money ???!?! Even worse, where is her supposed obligation to climate control !??!!”.
Pelosi’s words that “we have a moral responsibility” to reduce emissions were misinterpreted by one user. Another wrote, “No, it doesn’t apply to me or the rest of you.” Another person added, “It’s not the wealthy and powerful who have to make changes to save the earth. It’s us lower-class people.”
So long as she doesn’t spend her own money, it’s okay. Not all airlines are reliable during a pandemic.

There’s also a very real world threat to her life/safety. Last year, a large MAGA crowd stormed the Capital looking for her. It’d be way too dangerous for her to fly on commercial flights.

Did you ever consider that in these times of death threats from right-wing terrorists, she must travel in a way that ensures her safety?

The Democratic National Committee has made a commitment to combating climate change in recent years and has spent hundreds of thousands on the Advanced Aviation Team. Private jets emit significantly more carbon per passenger than commercial aircraft, leading environmentalists and others to condemn its continued use.
