Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet is accepting applications for projects involving recycled tires

FRANKFORT KY (WYMT – Officials at the Kentucky Division of Waste Management have announced that applications are open for crumb rubber or recycled tire projects.

The Energy and Environmental Cabinet will provide large funding for things such as mulch projects and walking trails using recycled tires.

According to the news release, there are certain projects that are not eligible for grants. These projects include tire-derived aggregate, tire derived fuel, rubber-modified Asphalt, and athletic field or loose-rubber playground applications.

Rebecca Goodman, Energy and Environment Cabinet Secretary, stated that this grant program encourages innovative uses for recycled tires. This allowed us to increase tire recycling markets in the state, encourage proper disposal of tires, and reduce illegal dumps.
