NIPSCO accepts applications for the 2022 Environmental Action Grant

NIPSCO announced that they are accepting applications for their Environmental Action Grant to support local non-profit organizations with environmental initiatives.

NIPSCOs grants provide $60,000 funding for education and environmental restoration projects in the NIPSCO service area. This is its seventh year.

Last year, 18 grant recipients were environmental groups, community organizations, schools, and other nonprofit organisations.

The projects included wetland restoration and the Smithsonian Water/ways Education Exhibit, support for forest school programming, pollinator protection initiatives and many other projects at the Indiana Dunes National Park.

For organizations looking for funds to support environmental restoration projects or education programs, grants are available in amounts between $500 and $5,000. Applications are now being accepted
Through April 1, 2022, grant awards will be announced during Earth Day. Nonprofit organizations with an environmental restoration or education project are invited to submit a grant request at NIPSCO.com/Community. To submit an online application, applicants must select the Environmental Stewardship option under the Area of Impact dropdown box.

Please include a description of the project and goals, budget, target audience, timeline, and evaluation. The NIPSCO Environmental Grants Committee reviews requests based on the following criteria: quality, strategic potency, community impact, public benefits, management, and management.

Eligible organizations need to be 501(c), 501(c), or another non-profit as determined the Internal Revenue Service. They must have an environmental focus and impact directly in NIPSCO area. Grant funding cannot be used for capital projects, such as weatherization or LEED-certification, trail/path construction or expansion, Green Build construction and solar panel purchase.
