With over 62 million pets, Italy is known as an animal lovers country. The World Dog Alliance and Lega Italiana Difesa Animali e Ambiente, an Italian animal protection group, have worked together for years to make the country a leader in animal protection.

They joined powers with the Italian Parliament to introduce numerous bills to ban the eating of cats and dogs, increase the punishment for dog theft, and include animal protection in the Constitution. In addition, the power team has held many conferences in the Parliament to raise awareness of animal welfare in the country.

The founder of the World Dog Alliance, Genlin, was presented with the International Dog Lover Award for his remarkable contribution to animal rights and the protection of animals worldwide.

All of Genlins hard work finally paid off, and he has now achieved his goal of including animal protection in the Italian constitution. This historic amendment will set an example for other countries to follow in Italys footsteps.
