The Russia-Ukraine Conflict has environmental impacts

The war in Ukraine could result in thousands of civilian deaths, a refugee crisis, and global economic collapse. It will also cause irreversible harm to the global and regional environment.

Vladimir Putin declared Donetsk (and Luhansk) as independent Ukrainian regions on February 22, 2022 after years of conflict. The war has begun and could be the most destructive in Europe in the past two decades.

It could lead to thousands upon thousands of civilian casualties, a refugee crisis, as well as global economic downfall. It will also cause irreversible damage to both the regional and global environment, as did the Chernobyl catastrophe in the 1980s. You can see how the Russia/Ukraine war will affect the environment in this video.
