Big Storm Brewing recycles CO2 to save on costs and protect the environment

Big Storm Brewing reusing CO2 to save money, environment

Clearwater’s brewery has found a way that keeps its beers fresh and fizzy while also helping the environment and its bottom line.

Big Storm Brewing uses new technology to recycle carbon dioxide they used in their brewing process.

LJ Govoni, president of Big Storm Brewing, stated that Big Storm Brewing is producing something natural that we then let dissipate.

Instead of letting the CO2 escape they will use hoses that bring the CO2 into the room. Earthly Labs CiCi Machine. It can then stored until it can pressurize cans, kegs.

Big Storm believes that the CO2 they’ll be able to save is the equivalent to 1,500 trees each year. This technology was not available to smaller breweries. Independent craft brewers such as this one were able to afford it and save money, which was a huge win for the environment.

“Protect our coast, protect our tourism which protects others who buy our product, that’s a good thing. What does that mean for us? It’s being a good neighbor.

The brewery will likely invest in a second machine as they grow. This means that they won’t need to purchase CO2 canisters for their beer to get the right texture. A brewery can spend tens to thousands of dollars per year for this machine. Perhaps the best thing about the refurbished CO2 is that it has a crisper taste.

Govoni stated, “It amounts to” fractions of purity. “These fractions add up to every pint.”

These machines are available in 50 locations around the globe.

This is the second machine in Florida. The first was at a Tallahassee beer house.

Big Storm also owns a distillery so they will be using it there for the first time.
