MACOMB (WGEM), Western Illinois University celebrates Womens History Month by putting together a calendar full of events.
On Saturday, they held an interactive bonding event to celebrate the achievements of women and support their mental and emotional health.
Madison Boykin, Resident Assistant participated in games or other activities.
Boykin stated that this is a great way of making new friends. Get tips on how to handle certain situations and express your emotions.
She stated that the bonding activities provided a safe place for them to share their difficult experiences.
Boykin spoke about the high school where he went. How I was bullied at high school. This is a part and parcel of who I am, who I am, and where my strength comes from.
This event was part of WIU’s Womens History Month celebration. It featured the theme of healing, promoting hope and loving your body.
Haley Rednour, organizer, stated that we have incorporated this into our overall wellness, self-care, and educational activities. Knowing your rights as women and the resources you have in Illinois, both on-campus and off-campus, was part of it.
Rednour stated they will learn more practical lessons about consent, and host yoga sessions to concentrate on health.
Rednour believes that by creating lots of events on campus, they will be able to be authentic, and this is what Rednour hopes.
Boykin encourages women of all ages to embrace their individuality.
Boykin stated that understanding the origins of these women is important to me because it makes them unique and will help shape the future of the world.
