TEHRAN The Ministry of Education created a plan to promote environmental protection among students across the country.
The plan was deemed supportive of the environment and will be implemented in next school year (beginning September 23), according to ILNA. Sadeq Sattari, an official from the Ministry of Education, stated Tuesday.
He explained that the plan’s main objectives include the preservation of vital natural resources, the institutionalization of environmental protection culture, the expansion of society’s knowledge about the environment, as well as encouraging students to participate in environmental protection activities.
Ayatollah Al-Khamenei, leader of the Islamic Revolution, stressed the need for non-fossil fuel sources of energy and to expand activities to preserve the environment.
He explained that the destruction and degradation of forests and vegetation is equivalent of the degradation of national interest.
He made these remarks at the National Tree Planting Day, which was celebrated annually on the fifteenth day Esfand, the final month of the Iranian calendar. The National Week of Natural Resources begins on this day.
The environment protection is not an easy task. It is crucial to preserve water and soil as vital resources and assets. Authorities must consider the views of experts when making this decision.
The Leader also urged people to plant and preserve trees, noting that this important work requires national support. Tree planting is one of the ways to prevent the loss of forests in and around cities by increasing the vegetation cover.
On January 22, nine training packages for environmental literacy were released.
These works are called climate change, biodiversity and waste, ecotourism and sports and environment. They have the goal of educating, educating, and promoting an environmental culture with a special priority on empowering educators and facilitators to provide environmental education to members and encourage public participation in environmental protection.
Every January 19, Iran celebrates the National Clean Air Day. This day aims to remind and highlight the main elements that contribute to maintaining high quality air. It also promotes citizen responsibility and citizen participation in protecting and maintaining the urban environment.
