Q:Tim Carlisle from Yucaipa stated that he was following a trash truck on Oak Glen Road in Yucaipa when a large bag of trash fell out. He said, “Have you ever noticed that your street is littered after the trash pickup?” Maybe it isn’t people throwing out their junk food, soda cans and bottles. Some are thrown out of trailers and trucks headed to the dump.
He asked if trash companies should have a crew to pick up trash from the streets behind their trucks once per month.
A:We don’t think it is possible to prevent a trash bag from accidentally falling from a garbage truck while the trucks are on their collection route. This happens occasionally. Anyone taking items to the dump should make sure they are secure.
The streets would be cleaner if everyone who sees a vehicle that has thrown away trash would call the trash company to report the incident. Workers could then return to clean up the mess.
Everyone can do their part to keep roads and highways clean by reporting accidents, trash dumping incidents, and not littering.
