Tyson Foods has announced that 44 of its plants were honored by the North American Meat Institute, (NAMI), for their positive environmental impacts. The Environmental Recognition Awards recognize a company’s commitment to environmental improvement through the development and implementation Environmental Management Systems (EMS).

The EMS model was created to drive continuous, measurable improvements in environmental compliance performance at Tysons operations. The model tracks progress on Tysons carbon footprint reduction, water intensity per product produced, waste reduction, and helps identify ways to extract value form secondary materials.

It’s an honor for Tyson to be recognized for the positive steps it is taking to improve environmental compliance results. And we are proud of the hardwork of each of Tyson’s plants as they strive to sustainably provide food for the world, said Kevin Igli SVP and Chief Environment Officer at Tyson Foods. These awards are a testament to Tysons commitment to the environment and making positive changes in the communities where they live and work.
