Saudi Arabian Minister for Environment, Water & Agriculture Announces Tanmiah’s Sustainability Challenge Winner

2020 US$1 MillionPolymeron won the grand challenge because they have an innovative solution for converting poultry bio-waste from a valuable and renewable source. They have created technology to create an environmentally friendly biodegradable composite material using biochar. This innovative material will tackle plastic pollution and poultry waste. It will also enrich soil quality, which will help TFC reduce its carbon footprint. Polymeron is one of several startups that participated in the “Taqadam” accelerator program at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology.

This challenge was designed to find a solution to process chicken farm waste in an economically viable and commercially viable way to make a positive impact on TFC, as a corporate entity, and on the environment in general. The other four organizations shortlisted for this challenge were: Insectum, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology and Proteinea.
