Plug Power’s hydrogen at their facility at STAMP is green. It could be an environment good if it is created solely by hydropower. However, most green hydrogen is not benign and uses more fossil fuels to create it.

The fossil fuel industry is trying to make hydrogen look great in all sectors, calling it green.
Hydrogen that’s legitimately green is made using electrolysis powered by renewable energy alone. Green hydrogen must meet certain conditions before it can be considered a reduction in greenhouse gas production. For example, green hydrogen is only worth using if clean electricity doesn’t solve the problem.
Hochul must focus on proven solar and wind technologies as New York’s climate crisis solution.
