There are many programs that residents can take part in throughout the state.
Pick Up PA is one program that people can sign up for. They will receive free safety vests, work gloves and trash bags until supplies run out. They can also register throughout each year.
Michelle Dunn is the program coordinator. She said that 76,000 volunteers threw away more than 3,000,000 pounds and more than 40,000. They also planted more than 100,000 trees.

They also offer an Illegal Free Dump PA program that helps local governments and law enforcement stop illegal dumping. This program lends surveillance kits to be installed at locations to catch those responsible.
Dunn estimated that cleanup costs municipalities around $3,000 per location. This money could be used for social programs or community infrastructure.
The organization also offers educational programs for children.
