The Oil, Gas, and Minerals Division oversees the development and preservation of fossil fuels and minerals. It also ensures safety and security for the public, natural resources, and property. The division oversees the drilling, operating, plugging, and locating of wells that are used for exploration, production, and storage of oil, gas and minerals. It also regulates industrial sand and mines for metal minerals. It also maintains a variety data and maps on Michigan geology, fossilfuels, and minerals for public and industrial use.
