Prince Albert’s new vintage clothing shop is owned by a man who hopes to capitalize on a fashion trend and also help the environment.
Luke Stead, owner of Moth Vintage, stated that clothes from the 1980s and 1990s are the best.
Stead, 21 years old, says he has been wearing vintage clothing since he grew up. This led him to open Moth Vintage clothing. He buys gently used clothes from the local community, online, as well as from other vintage clothing collectors for the store.
He said that sometimes you’ll find a one-off piece that no other person in the world has.
The store is stocked full of name brand pieces, from the 1960s through 2000s, including concert tees and many other sought-after logos.
Stead stated that Aerosmith was a very popular group in the 70s and 80s. The shirt is from their concert. You are getting something original and not a replica.
He claims that many of his customers purchase vintage impart for environmental reasons. That’s why he started the store.
Stead said that fast fashion is something we are trying to stop. This is because these places make clothing very cheaply in large quantities, so more clothes end up going to the dump.
He said that the clothes in his store have stood up to the test of the time and are made from high quality cloth and materials. Some are brand new, while others have been in someone’s wardrobe for years.
It will last longer. Stead says that you can wear that vintage piece for a while before giving it to someone else.
He believes that celebrities can also influence vintage clothing trends.
Moth Vintage opened in Prince Albert a few months ago. It is located at Central Avenue.
