Do you know anyone who loves the outdoors? The Delaware River Watershed Fellows will have an opportunity to gain experience in environmental conservation at one of AWE’s 23 environmental centers in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, or Delaware over the course of the summer. Fellows will work side by side with staff from environmental education centers on recreational activities on trails, waterways, habitat enhancement, community outreach and engagement.
It is a hands-on experience. Fellows work from June to August for 35 to 40 hours per week. Fellows will collaborate with their supervisors to create a Capstone project. This will be presented to their peers at the Fellowship Summit.
This 12-week, paid summer program has attracted nearly 100 participants over the last four seasons. Fellows are trained in watershed education and get hands-on experience in the field. They also serve as ambassadors and environmental educators for their host center.
AWE centers are responsible for prioritizing Fellowship opportunities to young people from the communities they serve, especially those who have been historically marginalized and systematically excluded from the environmental field.
