CHASE statement about judges’ decision to stop Metro Green site-wide harmful operations

Press Release, May 4, 2022| May 4, 2022

ATLANTA, Ga.Yesterday, a judge from the DeKalb County Superior Court ruled that Metro Green Recycling cannot stockpile or crush concrete at its Stonecrest facility. This is in spite of ongoing litigation. The solid waste handling facility can be found in the backyards many of our Black neighbors.

Following the ruling, Renee Cail (president of Citizens for a Healthy and Safe Environment) released the following statement.

“We are thrilled that the DeKalb County Superior Court clarified the injunction to halt the crushing of concrete in addition to handling solid waste at the Metro Green site until the Court issues a final ruling. Metro Green’s neighbors in south DeKalb, Stonecrest, are not at risk from the project being stopped now. This is fair and necessary to avoid any emotional distress, noise, traffic, or traffic problems.
