Salish Sea residents welcomed the news that a southern resident orca was born. [New orca is born to K pod, first in 11 years, May 3, Local News]There were three cruise ships docked in Elliott Bay.
Vessel traffic can cause noise pollution, which prevents whales echolocating food. Cruise ships are particularly guilty of releasing a lot chemical pollution. I urge lawmakers to place restrictions on cruise ships in Seattle, so that we can preserve marine habitat.
The extinction of entire species is not worth the loss of potential tourism.
