Abhishek Sharma, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), all-rounder, has spoken out about the dressing rooms during the whole David Warner saga.
Warner was fired from the captaincy after a dispute with the management. He was also dropped from the playing XI and wasn’t even part of the squad. Warner was often seen standing in support of the franchise he loves during the final stages IPL 2021.
Speaking about the tough times in an exclusive interview with CricTracker, Abhishek said: “The first half was a bit messy, but I think it was okay. There will be changes if we aren’t winning. It was almost as if we were forming a team.
“However, the second half was pretty good as we were trying new things as a team and the management was giving chance to the youngsters. It was a good way to plan for the future.”
Abhishek also claimed, Kane WilliamsonIn his opinion, he is the greatest captain of all-time. Abhishek played under him during the IPL 2021 season and said that he is trying to implement what he learned from the Kiwi captain.
“It was a great experience because he motivates you as a player. I have also blasted with him in a few games, and he’s always available to help. These words can lift you up whenever they come from a legend. He is calm and composed.” Abhishek stated.
Rahul Dravid’s advice to Abhishek Sharma
Rahul Dravid was a U-19 teammate of Abhishek. Abhishek was asked what advice he would give to a former batting legend.
“When I was leading the (Under-19) team under him (Dravid), he always use to tell me that, ‘you should always play your natural game. You don’t have to be perfect in your batting and bowling styles. You just have to back yourself and be confident to become the best.’ So, I still remember those words and it still motivates him whenever I am not doing well.”
Abhishek is a member of the SRH team for the last three seasons. He continues to lead the Punjab cricket team at the domestic level.
