Alchemy Art Center and the San Juan Island Conservation District partnered to create the first ever Art+Environment program. This 10-week arts and environmental stewardship program was designed for middle school students and is hosted at Alchemy.

Each week, students received instruction from different professionals in the arts or environmental fields. These included topics such as Sense of Place (Reuse and Upcycling), Design/Messaging, and Sense of Place (Sense of Place). Danielle Dean, a fine arts professor, was joined by Kari Koski (biologist and forager), Bill Moyer (founder and director of Backbone Campaign), Katey Rissi (botanical dyer and printmaker), and the Lopez ReMakery Nikyta Palmisani founder.

The public is invited Friday, May 13 to an exhibition that showcases the amazing work this group of young people have created over the past 10 weeks. It will include photography, upcycled fashion and recycled clay sculpture, found object assembly, cyanotype, printing, and many other mediums. The reception and exhibition will be held in Alchemy’s dome from 6-8pm. Light refreshments will also be served.

Alchemy is located on 1255 Wold Rd. Please visit our Contact Page at https://alchemyartcenter.com/contactFor directions and accessibility information, click here
