Analog Devices International hosted a brainstorming session to discuss how its technology, business models and business models could be used in combating climate change.
Over 70 of the brightest minds from the company’s sites in Limerick Cork and Dublin, gathered for the ‘Hackathon’ event taking place in Catalyst, Analog’s new collaboration facility on the Raheen Business Park.
They were divided into six teams and worked for two days to create and pitch original and innovative solutions to the climate crisis.
Analog Technology Development Manager Donal McAuliffe said that climate changes a major issue for the company’s workforce.
” ADI technology is already being used by our customers around the world to solve some of the toughest engineering challenges in health, automotive and other industries.
“Everyone is incredibly motivated and determined to use their effort, skills, and talent to identify new and innovative ways to make meaningful progress in addressing the climate crisis. It might not change the world, but the winning solution could make a calculable impact.”
The company hosted a series of talks, workshops and discussions in advance of the Hackathon. This was to help the hackers prepare their pitches and understand the current state of the climate crisis. A variety of climate and sustainability experts shared thought-provoking insights around current progress in energy, agriculture, transportation, manufacturing and bio diversity.
This Thursday, each team pitched their idea to a panel of judges, Dragon’s Den style. The winner will be able to demonstrate how it addresses the problem and uses ADI technology effectively. It also has the potential to make a significant impact. The company will then investigate the feasibility of converting this winning solution into an actual deployment solution by a relevant organization.
