Craig L. Deatrick (Director of Installation Management Command-Pacific) visited U.S. Army Garrison Daegu during the week of March 28, to tour the installation facilities and to recognize members of IMCOM for their outstanding service to Army Communities.
Deatrick had a lot to see. The USAG Daegu community has seen several construction projects completed over the past year. These include significant renovations to multiple fitness centres, an updated lounge area for Soldiers, and a renovated teen centre. There are also new American-style housing options at Camp Walker.
Deatrick spoke with members of the garrison staff during his visit to address lines of effort and encourage professional development.
“[One of the things]Deatrick said that the Army’s current focus is on the environment and more efficient ways to use and recycle energy. Your commander should be focusing on this. This will be made easier by your Installation Energy and Water Plan.
The Army requires all installations to prepare Installation Energy and Water Plans. These Plans outline critical mission requirements and assess energy and base conditions. They also develop a prioritized approach for both projects and operations and maintain activities that improve energy and resilience.
IMCOM-Pacific is based at Fort Shafter in Hawaii and manages U.S. Army facilities in four countries, the United States of America, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and the Republic of the Marshall Islands.
The U.S. Army in the Pacific is a vast geographical area that includes more than 40 countries as well as some of the largest foreign armies in the world. The Pacific is a vast area of operation for the Army that is both geographically, politically, culturally, and economically diverse.
