NEW DELHI – The Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP), Ministry of Commerce and Industry organized a one day academic meeting on Wednesday. The topic was ‘Future Roadmap for Safe, Secure and Sustainable Food Packaging’.
The event was held at Eros Hotel in Nehru Place and was attended by professionals and entrepreneurs from the industry. Arun Singhal (CEO, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) was the chief guest, while SN Jha (DDG, Agricultural Engineering of Indian Council of Agricultural Research) was the guest of honor.
Singhal emphasized the importance of developing and using environmentally-friendly packaging. Jha spoke of the lack of awareness about the latest developments in packaging technology. He suggested that there should be more seminars to discuss these topics. The technical sessions were followed by a’research conclave,’ in which prominent industry figures discussed the subject.
Sunil Jain (Vice Chairman, IIP), Subodh Gopta (former chairman, IIP), Tanweer Alam (Director, IIP) and Madhab Chakraborty (Joint Director, IIP) were among others who attended the event. Alam gave the welcome speech and highlighted the importance packaging and how it adds brand value and value to the product.
