Chris Gibbes, Hurricanes assistant Coach, has confirmed that an undisclosed number from their playing squad tested positive for Covid-19.
The Hurricanes will play Moana Pasifka, a newcomer to Wellington’s Sky Stadium on Saturday.
Asafo Aumua, Hooker, was forced to withdraw from last weekend’s 21-14 victory over the Highlanders. Gibbes confirmed that he was sick but refused to confirm whether Aumua had tested positive.

Ardie Savea’s side celebrated their return home by beating the southern men.
Gibbes stated that Covid is present in the environment. I cannot confirm this, but I can confirm that it is there.

We are preparing to face these guys this weekend and that is what we were focusing on.

It is inevitable. We knew it was coming. We prepared really well for it. As an organisation, we need to ensure we can get a group out and get our performances going again this weekend.
Aumua being ruled out of the Highlanders clash meant that Raymond Tuputupu, a teenager, drove from Palmerston North to take a seat on the bench. He made an unexpected appearance in the final stages of the game.
Jamie Booth, halfback, was also omitted from the starting XV. Coach Jason Holland stated after the game that Booth had injure his knee during training.
Gibbes claimed that the Hurricanes didn’t train Monday.
