SEAL Awards honors Atlas Renewable Energy with its Business Sustainability award in the Environmental Initiatives Category.

The program provides three main environmental benefits. It conserves 300 hectares of secondary foliage from the evergreen forest patches, creates biological corridors to connect the forest patches surrounding the solar plant, as well as the conservation of Black Howler Monkey habitat, an endangered species that was red-listed in the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

The first phase of this project consisted of the relocation and creation of corridors to link forest patches. Phase two of the program is currently underway. It consists of monitoring and reforestation of the Black Howler monkeys over the next couple years to ensure their wellbeing.
