Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the agreements for the construction of the railway were reached with Ilham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan. Trend reports on Dec. 16.
Previously, Pashinyan noted that at a meeting with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in Brussels, an agreement was reached on the construction of the Arazdayan-Julfa-Ordubad-Meghri-Horadiz railway.
Brussels saw the joint meeting of the Azerbaijani President, President of the Council of the European Union Charles Michel (Armenia), and the Armenian prime Minister on 14 December. The issue of demining Azerbaijani territories freed from Armenian occupation was discussed by both sides. [in the 2020 second Karabakh war]During the meeting, it was also noted the willingness of the EU to provide technical support to Azerbaijan in that direction.
A deal was reached between the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides to create a temporary group of working people in connection with the delimitation. Both sides discussed extensively the issue of opening communication and transport links. The Armenian side has reaffirmed its commitment of building a railway in its territory. The Armenian side is expected to soon begin construction of this railway. A mutual agreement was reached regarding the provision of border control and customs services.
