BLM opens new Taos office | Environment

The U.S. Bureau of Land Management is moving the Taos Field Office.

According to a press release the Taos Field Office will be opening its new office at 1024 Paseo del Pueblo Sur, March 7, at 7:45 AM. The new location will provide a “more modern environment to serve public better while staff carry out the agency’s mission.”

All phone numbers will remain unchanged

Pamela Mathis, Field Manager, said that we are pleased to have a prominent spot and better visibility on the main street.

The current field office, located at 226 Cruz Alta Road since 1994, will close its doors at 4:15 p.m. on March 3. Virtual services will be limited and in-person services won’t be available on March 4.

Jillian Aragon, Public Affairs Specialist noted that the field offices serve many people with different needs, from maps and recreation permits to grazing permits as well right-of way grants.

Aragon said, “We also do Fuel Wood Permits, a lot more people rely on that form of energy.”

The public may contact the Taos Field Office via phone at (575) 758-8851, or by email at [email protected], although phone connections may be unavailable until March 7, according to the release.
