Boise’s feelings about climate change
StackerWe compiled statistics using data from The Boise Times about the attitudes of Boise residents towards climate change. Yale Program on Climate Change Communication. The data is based on a survey that was conducted in 2020.
Although climate change is affecting everyone in some way, it is still a deeply divisive topic. This is especially true when it comes to how much responsibility should humans shoulder and how the U.S. government should respond to the crisis.
Age, race, political affiliation, geographyThese are just a few factors that contributes to divergent and often conflicting views on climate change. For instance, Gen Zers, millennials, and older generations are more willing than their predecessors to give up fossil fuels. Democrats, across all demographic splits, are more likely view climate change as a top-priority than Republicans. Only 82% of Democrats view climate change as a major threat. 16% of Republicans.
Even in Republican RegionsAlthough the extreme climate-related weather events such as droughts, heat waves and tropical storms have wreaked havoc on our planet, scientists still believe that it is necessary to phase out fossil fuels.
