Candlelight vigil for those affected by the climate crisis

Members of East Kootenay Climate Centre staged a candlelight vigil at Kootenay East MLA Tom Shypitka’s Cranbrook office the evening of Dec. 13.

The vigil was one among many planned at MLA offices all around the province.

“Peaceful candlelight vigils are taking place across the province to remember those who have died in the heat dome, floods, tornados and other climate-related disasters in 2021, and to Call for Action to confront the climate emergency and help prevent future deaths,” the EK Climate Hub explained.

MLA Shypitka addressed attendees, and his staff provided hot chocolate.
