KITIMAT (BC), Feb. 8, 2022/CNW/- The Haisla Nation-owned Cedar Liquefied Natural Gas Project, (Cedar LNG), has reached key milestones to build its proposed export facility. Kitimat, British Columbia. Haisla Nation Chief Counsellor, with recent advances in the project’s engineering and regulatory development, Crystal Smith, is optimistic about the future of Cedar LNG.

KitimatSmith states that Smith intends to share the information with the surrounding Indigenous Nations and the local community. “Cedar LNG is long-term growth in our region, while protecting our land and environment. We are excited to see the environmental assessment process for Cedar LNG move forward with innovative technology and a reduced environmental footprint.
Environmental Assessment Certificate application submitted
Cedar LNG submitted a request for an Environmental Assessment Certificate to the British Columbia Environmental Assessment Office. The application was accepted and the project is now in the 180-day process of application review. This important project milestone is the result of detailed engineering, meaningful engagement with Indigenous communities and local communities, and extensive studies.
“The submission of our EAC application represents another significant step forward in exporting Canadian LPG to overseas markets, while supporting the Haisla Nation’s long-term prosperity,” stated the spokesperson. Cedar LNG hopes to continue to work with Indigenous communities and local communities throughout the application review phase in order to address community concerns and interests. This will ensure that we are able to deliver this critical project together.
Front-End Engineering and Design Contract (FEED) awarded
Cedar LNG is pleased to announce an agreement for front-end engineering design (FEED), with Black & Veatch (SHI), and the proposed floating liquefaction storage and offloading unit (the “FLNG”) of the Project.

Cedar LNG expects that it will make a final investment decision by 2023, after the environmental assessment has been completed. The expected date of the project’s in-service is in 2027, subject also to regulatory approvals.
