Manure happens. It happens. There are ways to use it to grow crops and help the environment.
This is the premise for Waste to Worth 2022. It will be held April 1822 near Toledo and will share the most recent science on animal agriculture, environmental stewardship, and other topics.
The conference was organized by the national Livestock and Poultry Environmental Learning Community and hosted at The Ohio State University College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. It brings together top experts on manure usage. Its theme is “Advancing sustainability in animal agriculture.”
CFAES Speakers will include:
- Cathann A. Cress, Ohio State vice-president for agricultural administration, and dean CFAES, will deliver the conference’s welcoming address. CFAES’s research and outreach areas include nutrient and manure management, soil and water quality, and soil health.
- Chris Winslow will be sharing a history about Lake Erie’s water quality issues with Ohio Sea Grant and The Ohio State University Stone Laboratory. Ohio Sea Grant and Stone Lab, both of which are part of CFAES, work to study, teach about, and improve stewardship of Lake Erie.
- Aaron Wilson, climate specialist from CFAES Ohio State University Extension outreach arm. He will discuss how climate changes are affecting agriculture. Wilson is also a research scientist at Ohio States Byrd Polar and Climate Research Center.
