The proposed regulation was posted on the website of the National People’s Power Assembly at https://www.parlamentocubano.gob.cu.
The Cuban Parliament’s website states that the text establishes the basic principles and standards that will regulate the actions of the State, citizens and society to ensure the implementation and operation of the system of natural resources and the environment.
This includes social interactions that encourage conservation, protection, rational use of natural resources. It is necessary for the socialist development model to be successful and sustainable in the country and society.
The Bill also proposes to guarantee that all Cubans have the right to enjoy the healthy and balanced environment outlined in the Constitution of Cuba. It was approved in a popular referendum which took place on February 24, 2019.
