Centre for Science and Environment, a research and advocacy institution, seeks a Deputy Programme Manager For its University Programme (UP).
The University Programme (UP), under CSE’s Environment Education initiative, aims to work with educators and students of institutions of higher education from across the country to build awareness on issues of environment and development as well as help nurture a cadre of educators who can impart environmental education in classrooms more holistically.
THE POSITION?
The position requires someone who has a good understanding of curricula and pedagogy with respect to the subject of ‘Environment Education and Environmental studies’ in institutions of higher education. The key responsibilities would include anchoring the University Programme — from expanding the educator’s network under the Programme; building partnerships to reach out to environmental educators; and representing CSE on various online and offline platforms to developing and implementing activities through the year to keep the network engaged; and researching, writing and distributing content targeted at both the faculty and students.
The incumbent will be part of CSE’s Environment Education Unit (EEU), and will work in close coordination with various CSE programme units and Down To Earth, the environment fortnightly. He/she will report to CSE’s Senior Director, Environment Education.
PROFILE:
A good candidate should have:
- A Master’s degree in environment/environmental studies from a recognised university/institution preferably.
- At least 6-8 years of work experience in the field of environment education – preferably at or with respect to institutions of higher education.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong communication, articulation, and writing skills in English, Hindi, and a good understanding and proficiency in social media.
- Strong networking skills.
- Ability to take independent charge of the programme – responsibilities may include designing programme goals and activities in consultation with the Environment Education team, and interacting regularly with stakeholders in the sector, such as educators, government officials and academic institutions.
- Strong organizational capabilities – will be expected to organize CSE’s annual educator’s conclave, and other programme specific events.
- Contribute to the development of publications, newsletters, and other content material.
- Willingness to travel between urban and rural India.
