Developers, investors, and hotel owners will all gather at the inaugural Energy & Environment Alliance Summit in order to discuss ESG investments and Net Zero Carbon.

Developers, investors, and hotel owners will all gather at the inaugural Energy & Environment Alliance Summit in order to discuss ESG investments and Net Zero Carbon.

The Energy & Environment Alliance, a non-profit alliance of hospitality leaders and renowned specialists, will host its inaugural Summit on Tuesday 22 February 2022. It will be hosted by Al-karim Nathoo and 4c Hotels at the Westin Hotel in London City.

Lord Deben, Chairman, Climate Change Committee, will headline the event. He was the Conservative Party Chairman 1983-1985 and Secretary of State for Environment 1993-1997.

The conference will bring together EEA member hotel owners, asset mangers, and investors to discuss investment opportunities in Net Zero Carbon (NZC), leadership in the hotel industry’s Environmental, Social and Governance and the latest innovations. The event has three main objectives:

1) Critical factors for strategic CAPEX/OPEX decisionsThis includes the regulatory context, legal, governance, and technological developments in NZC, ESG.

2) Facilitate access to capital, equity and debtTo drive NZC/ESG investment in hotel and aparthotel assets.

3) Instigate action:Facilitating meaningful networking between institutional investors and lenders, experts, asset managers, and experts.

The six conference sessions will feature speakers who will discuss strategies to reduce NZC/ESG risk and future-proof projects, as well as ways to increase sustainable investment returns. The conference will also discuss methods to establish common standards and metrics that are scientifically sound and economically sustainable.

Ufi Ibrahim, CEO of EEA, stated that capital flows into sustainable investments are growing at a rapid pace. All hotel asset classes without commercially viable and scientifically sound Net Zero Carbon and ESG strategies run serious risk of becoming obsolete. In addition, regulatory compliance and governance requirements will bring out the leaders, the laggards, and the greenwashers in our industry. EEA members are collaborating with BREEAM to establish common global standards and define the terms of the new order. BREEAM is the most respected and impartial sustainability assessment program for the built environment in the world. This is a remarkable undertaking. We intend that the Summit informs our work, and informs our members strategic CAPEX/OPEX decisions in this moment.
