According to a BuzzFeedarticle published Thursday, February 10, 2010, by a dozen former and current employees of The Dr. PhilShows claim that the show created a toxic environment.

Sources claimed that workers were made to perpetuate racist stereotypes, told to stop mentally ill guests getting their medication, and subjected to verbal abuse.

Despite the fact that none of these people are able to speak for themselves, BuzzFeed NewsWe spoke with witnesses Phil McGraw engage in toxic workplace behaviors, two current and 10 former employees said that it was “common to be screamed at and berated by executive producer Carla Pennington and other senior-level staffers.”

According to the report, attorneys for McGraw and Pennington “categorically denied every allegation made in this story, insisting that Dr. Phil in no way fosters racism, inappropriate interactions with guests, bullying and harassment, or any other unprofessional behavior.”

H. Patrick MorrisIn a statement, a lawyer for the 71-year old talk show host stated that he had received a “request for assistance” from the attorney. E! News, “BuzzFeedNumerous former and current staff were offered to talk to the reporter, but they refused after hearing the truth that would ruin their salacious story. Dr. Phil takes every guest and their circumstances very seriously and spends enormous amounts of time preparing for his time with them, including consulting with world class experts.”
