Officials are investigating the source of a diesel leak in the River Severn. The fuel could have been detected in areas of Worcestershire, Bridgnorth, and Bewdley.
The Environment Agency shared the news via Twitter. They stated that they used specialist booms to prevent diesel from entering the river.
The spillage is unlikely to have any environmental consequences. They tweeted: “We’ve been investing in diesel in the #RiverSever close to #Bridgnorth today.

“We have deployed booms to stop more people from entering the river while we investigate the cause. It can be alarming, but we don’t expect any environmental effects.”
One social media user responded: “Diesel goes as far south as Bewdley.” Ian Miller said: “Oil spill River Severn. Alveley moving in the direction of Hampton Loade.”
Miller included images of diesel sitting on top of the water in his post.
