Environment Canada forecasts wind gusts of up 80 km/h heading for Toronto

Environment Canada has issued a special Weather Statement for Toronto and its environs. Strong wind gusts are expected across the city on Wednesday.

According to the agency, a Cold front moves through southern Ontario Strong winds gusting between 70-80 kilometres an hour will blow through the area starting Wednesday afternoon and lasting into the evening.

Environment Canada warned that strong winds could cause power cuts and tree branches could snap under the pressure.

As a result of the intense winds, motorists are advised to adjust their driving to the changing road conditions.

Other areas of the GTA, such as Peel, Halton and Durham, are also subject to the same weather advisory. As gusts are expected at speeds of up to 90 km/h, several areas, including Niagara, Kingston, Prince Edward County, are under wind warning.

Toronto’s temperature is expected to hover between 2-4 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, before dropping below zero in evening.
