This year, spring break is going to be a little unpredictable because of the weather.

Many area children began their break Friday morning. It was a little colder than normal for the area with highs hovering just above 0 C.

The region also saw a bit of snow.

By Wednesday (Mar. The forecast calls for a high of 9 C by Wednesday (Mar. 30). From then on, temperatures should be closer to average for the remainder of the week.

However, Environment Canada meteorologist Natalie Hassel warns that the freeze-thaw could affect road conditions, as there are a few days that call for overnightsnow this week.

“It would really be important for people to keep taking the same precautions they have been doing, so driving to road condition, planning for things being delayed.

She said that children who are out and about this week should be cautious on the sidewalks.

Hassel also suggests putting together an emergency preparedness kit for summer.
