Environment Canada has issued snow and rainfall warnings

WEATHER ALERT
ENVIRONMENT CANADA
*************************
Snowfall warning in place for:

  • Guelph-Erin – Southern Wellington County
  • Kitchener – Cambridge Region of Waterloo

Snowfall amounts totaling between 15 and 25 cm are expected.

Hazards:
From Friday morning through Friday afternoon, snow, sometimes heavy, is expected. Total snowfall accumulations up to 25 cm are possible.
Sometimes, near zero visibility in heavy snow or blowing snow.
Itchy and slippery surfaces

When:
This afternoon through Friday morning

Discussion:
Tonight’s low pressure system is expected track just south from Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. It will bring a mixed wintry mix to southern Ontario. This afternoon, rain is expected to turn into snow. During the transition, it is possible to see ice pellets and freezing rain this morning and afternoon.

The track of the low pressure system is still uncertain so precipitation timings and amounts could change.

Be ready to adjust your driving to suit changing road conditions. Traveling over snowy terrain can be difficult. Heavy snow can cause visibility to be reduced suddenly. Snow accumulation can make it difficult for vehicles to navigate roads, sidewalks, parking lots, and highways.
