Environment Canada issues a weather alert for the local area

Environment Canada has issued an advisory about strong winds for Sunday.

The advisory is in force for Windsor, Essex County, and Chatham-Kent.

According to the federal agency, wind gusts of 80-90 km/h are possible with localized gusts exceeding 100 km/h.

Widespread power cuts are also possible.

As a cold front moves through southern Ontario strong southwest winds will develop late Sunday morning or early Tuesday afternoon.

There are also thunderstorms possible throughout the day.
