For all of northern and south Ontario, an extreme cold weather advisory is in effect
Environment Canada has issued the following Warning Sunday morning, saying a “period of very cold wind chills is expected.”
According to the agency wind chill values of -30 Celsius are possible Sunday evening through Monday morning.

Toronto is under extreme cold weather alert
Environment Canada warned that there are more risks for older adults, young children, people with chronic illness, people who exercise outdoors, and those without shelter.
“Watch for cold-related symptoms: shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes,” the warning reads.

To avoid frostbite, keep dry, layer up, and limit your time outside.
According to the agency you should dress warmly and in layers that can easily be removed if it gets too warm.
“The outer layer should be wind-resistant,” Environment Canada said.
The agency also reminded residents that if it’s too cold for humans to stay outside, then “it’s too cold for your pet to stay outside.”
