Quinte will be blanketed with snowfall from Friday morning through the evening.

Environment Canada issued a weather advisory early Thursday morning, predicting that a heavy snowstorm will hit Quinte West and Belleville.

According to the national weather center, Quinte residents can expect heavy snowfalls of 10 to 15% at times.

Eastern Ontario is expected the most severe storm.

A low pressure centre is expected to bring snow to the region from Friday morning through Friday night. Environment Canada stated in its advisory that the areas near Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River will receive the most snowfall.

Travelers were warned to be careful as visibility can be poor on regional roads.

Winter driving conditions are dangerous and motorists should be prepared to adjust their travel plans accordingly. Transport delays can be caused by poor weather conditions. Snow accumulation can make it difficult to navigate surfaces such as roads, walkways, parking lots, and highways. Heavy snow can cause visibility to be reduced suddenly.

According to the weather forecaster, if visibility is reduced while driving turn on your lights.
